Alright guys, time to hold my hand again. I've spent the afternoon looking in old searches, and couldnt find an exact answer to my satisfaction so here goes. I bought a lighted side mount plate and need to know how to wire it.
It has a white and a black wire. I found the rear lighting harness under the seat which has a purple, a black, a blue, a yellow/red, a brown, and a orange/white wires. Gonna use posi-lock connectors. Am I right in thinking that I connect the black wire from the license plate to the black wire from the tail light and the white wire to the blue from the tail light? Fellas, I know this is long and drawn out, but I need some step by step directions, im an idiot when it comes to stuff like this. Thanks for your time.
Can't offer color specific directions since I don't know what year/model your bike is and it's likely not the same as mine anyway.
But why isn't this as simple as moving the wires from the stock rear plate mount to the new side mount plate? I'm assuming you're trying to power the plate light, right? Just attach the two wires from the new side mount set up to the two wires that light the stock plate.
Skip the posi locks! Use those and you are asking for trouble. They comprimise the wire, allow moisture in and over time with vibration the wire can break. Throw out the year of your bike and some one should have the right diagram for the wire colors.

He is right, no posi locks!
However you splice them in, the wiring needs to be sealed from the elements or it will never last.

+1, if it is for the plate light don't get to crazy. you should be able to use the old light wires
