i've got the andrews 37h cam and wondering if going with .030 head gasket with no head work would be a good idea. if i go with this set up can i stay with stock pushrods?
You would be fine as far as head/piston clearance goes. Not sure about the push rods, I think the will work, but not sure. If its within budget, I would get the adjustables for flexibility in the future.
I already bought the cam and a set of adjustables. just wondering if the .030 head gasket would bump it up a bit. if i could use stock push rods i could sell the adjustables and use money for gasket.
i read that the heads on 06 dyna has a good flow rate. i was hoping that with the .030 HG i could wake the cam up a bit.
any opinons????????
I just put in an .030 HG with stock push rods and it works fine. I spent a little more on a set of SE 1.725 non roller rockers[$150.] for a .541 lift on my 37's and had Big Boyz do the heads [$300]. I am done with my engine and it runs better than what I expected.
Yes, it should raise compression about .25:1. I was going to just do the HG but when I saw the powdercoating in the ports and combustion chamber I had to get them cleaned up. My stock HG measured .047. It will also give you a better quench.
If you are pulling the heads to use the stock pushrods a 0.030" Cometic will help but I couldn't say it would be a noticeable difference over the stock gasket.
Let us know how you like the 37 with no other work. I am really curious since I am running the 54H and was a bit disappointed in the final result. (major headwork)
