Default 30T upgrade

So, I have the SE clutch spring. Since I "have" to pull the primary open..I might as well do the 30t upgrade.

For those that did...is it worth doing the SE compensator? It is stupid expensive but might help with my crank with the heads and cams.

So, worth the money or push it off?

Jason, the clutch spring and compensator can be changed with only removing the outer primary while the pulley requires that you pull both primary's. More gaskets, time, etc, plus you'll need to round up the 2.25" big *** socket and the locking tool to r&r the pulley. Personally, I don't have either (spring or comp) and my bike works just fine. I will be adding both though when I do the 98"

Thanks Don. I figured why not go a little further in while I'm there. I'm going to make my own socket (I have a cheap 2 1/4") that I will modify, and the locking bar looks pretty simple too. I should be able to fab that as well.

I have all the gaskets that came with my forwards that I didn't use...maybe I'll just order the compensator and 30t...do it all one time. Thanks for the advice.

i have a barnett clutch spring in mine and the pully and love it! great addition, when i do my 95 and cams in a few months i am sure it will work just along with it. i personally LOVE mine, the 30T made a very noticable diff off the line and the cluchs spring really GRABS when you are popping on it

i could not get the compensator off without either grinding the lip on inner primary or remove the inner.
I chose remove.

Vinsil, when I was considering the 30T pulley I thought the same thing. Figured - might as well while I have it opened up. Well even though I don't have any engine performance mods. I decided to do it. I used to have a big "bang-clunk" when I started it up - since I changed the SE comp. it turns over real smooth. No more "bang". Now I'm thinking I should have upgraded the clutch spring. Oh well, still love the 30T pulley.

By the way was looking at you latest pictures of your bike - looks clean & tight. I'd like to see how it sits with the lowered front springs. Myself, I can't decide 11" shocks or lowering blocks ???

Thanks JimmieJack! I know I will love the 30t..I have geared down every bike whether that it is a offroad bike or my street bikes with great results. I have read so much great feedback on the compensator that I think I will do it, while I'm there.

I plan to do the front springs here in the next few weeks when I pull my sliders off for paint. I'll be sure to post pictures, thanks for the compliment.

I can say, I'm happy with my lowering blocks. Others are happy with the 11" shocks. I only did the blocks to see if like the stance/lowering before stepping up to $$$ shocks. I'm happy enough that I might not go with shocks now. If I do, I will do the Works Trekkers in 11.5". Seems a good compromise with going lower and getting a better ride/shock. Good luck!
