Default Lets see some SMALL windshields!

Im kicking around the idea of a small windshield for my WG to help break the cold *** Colorado "spring" morning wind. Ive seen some really small ones on here in peoples sigs, but would like to get an idea of some of the options people are running. Post em up, the price and where ya picked em up from!

Well its not that small but I did cut 4" off the standard HD Compact windshield. When riding the wind is directed off your chest and not your head. It makes for an enjoyable ride. Looking forward to using it during those warm summer months.

I found a dirt cheap National Cycle Shorty, l so I gave it a try for a trip from VA to Sturgis. After I got home, I took it off. It was nice as a rain shield, but I didn't care for it as a wind shield. It alters the wind and I get more helmet buffering than without.

Good luck with the search, but it's a trial & error game...

I use a National Cycle Deflector Screen DX Windshield ($80 at bikebandit I think) to take the edge off cold mornings. It also helps slide through wakes from big trucks and deflects pesky bugs and debris. But you have to lean into it for best effect below freezing. The DX is lightweight and easy on - easy off. I don't think I have photos, but a forum search should turn up a few. Again it just takes the edge off my chest.

I've got a windvest with 14" smoked shield. I also have the Cee Bailey's summer shield like HSB, above, but I haven't even tried it yet. Several people have complimented me in person and I've even had pm's here asking me about it and complimenting it. The smaller shields seem to be more suited for dyna's and, I can't speak for the other brands, but I'm completely satisfied with this one as far as performance for its size. I picked mine up from forum member, bberck, for $200 bucks including both shields. Mine has a different mount than HSB, it mounts to the risers instead of the bars, which gives me several inches of up and down adjustment - which helped dial it in a lot. I think the retail price on a windvest is over $300 but they can be found used or whatever here and there for less. See sig pic and also a couple of pix posted below.

Windvests are quite effective and if you get the height right they will deflect wind off your face as well.

I rode from Alaska to Los Angeles with just a windvest, standard size (small) on my FXR.

If you look close you'll see a chip missing out of the bottom right of mine... thats not from the road, its from dropping it one time ! I just left it that way.

Default A New Small Shield

Not to toot our own horn (we make this product) but these are brand new, so a lot of riders haven't seen it. It's not even on our web site yet.

It's called the Gladiator, and it fits a wide range of XL/FXD/FXS/FLS models from the mid-70s to 2010. It's polycarbonate in light tint or dark tint, and the almost-invisible mounting hardware is in chrome or black, depending on the bike (blacked-out models get the black mounts).

The mounts have a dual pivot design that allows an extremely wide range of height settings and rake angles.

We like it but, of course, we're a little biased. Maybe one of you should buy one and give us some feedback.

If anyone want to shoot me a message, I'll send you the PDF features/specs flyer for this windshield.
