I don't think there is a secret, you just have to start fishing them in. They should slide up in there without having to force the issue. If you're "cramming" them too hard, I'd pull out and re-attempt before damaging something. (well that didn't sound too good did it???) LOL

Well I was able to get it back on, thanks for your help everyone. It wasn't as hard as I imagined. I routed the wire back towards the neck and pulled the plastic cover down and made sure that the groove on the plug was facing the ignition and pushed it back on by hand no need for the pliers. I guess tht I was just lucky to get it on the first try. Now what is the secret to getting all the wires to fit back into the neck?????
Glad you fixed it , as far as a secret let me know if you find one because i did not put my wires back yet either, ( i'm not finished yet ) ....

u were ont he right track the access panel on the back fender allows u to grab the main wiring harness. it will allow u to slightly pull as you push at the neck. you should be able to reach both ends at the same time or have a buddy help. just make sure you grab the right wires as there are a few sets there pushing at the neck will let you see which ones are moving
