You can also use an unlit (UNLIT) propane torch to check the base of the intake gasket. You will hear the idle climb a bit when it ingests and burns the propane.
That said, my bike is EFI but I notice a performance difference just changing air filters. I have a dyno map done with the SE paper air filter and changed to a K&N and the bike started running lean and backfiring. Switched back to a SE paper one and it runs fine. So, I am 90% sure you need a re-jet.
