So I was changing my spark plugs and the front plug was burning clean and the rear was black. The bike runs fine. I have a jet kit, pipes ,and SE air filter. Is this normal?
Put the front plug in the rear cylinder and vice versa with the rear plug. It's possible the plug may have something in it, slight defect, causing it to run cooler. When you mentioned jet kit are you saying Dynojet?, presuming this is carbed.
LOL, if you can get both cylinders on a Vtwin engine to run the same...please let me know. You might be getting some reversion from your pipes causing the rear jug to steal some of the fuel from the front. You should be able to tune most of that out if you find a dyno tuner who can sync both the fuel & balance the timing with a TTS or SEST.
Wait you are carbed....maybe new jet time? I would throw a new set of plugs in and see if it repeats. Then look at the timing if it does. Like I said, if conditions are just right the rear jug can steal some of the fuel that should be going to the front and cause it to run rich
That what I figured wanted a second opinion. I rode the bike till December of last year and just took it out of storage. So maybe the frigged temps did not help. I putting some baffles in later in week. I will change the plugs and turn down the mixture screw alittle. The bike runs great. I was also thinking of Seafoaming it to clean some carbon out.
That seems *** backward, you probably have a manifold leak making the rear run rich. Usual read on the plugs should be cleaner on the rear cyl cause it runs hotter.
