LOL!! That sucks, but what can you do. I know how you feel though with dads ride. When I was 16 and my dad tossed me the keys to his 90 FXR (after the safety course of course). I went to visit some friends at their work and when I pulled up I went to put the bike down on the jiffy and it wasn't catching. Well low and behold it would have caught if I put it down. It took everything I had to pick that thing up right! Got the highway peg an inch from the ground before I got it to come back up. All I though was dad is going to kill me, dad is going to kill me and got it up. Nothing hit the ground and saved it. That was enough of a punch line for me. Luckily nobody saw me!!
Could of been worse you could of layed it over in front of them
Last saturday night I'm at a biker bar in the Malibu Mountains, the Rock Store. There's maybe 20 bikes there, sort of a light turnout. A guy on a crotch rocket blasts off downhill....everyone watches as he screams around the corner and out of sight.
It's a real quiet evening now in the mountains. Nice sunset going on. Then some chatter starts up as we all see this guy walking back up the road toward the bar. He's limping. As he gets closer it's easy to see the blood stains running from his left hip all the way down to his boots. He looked bad. He asks a couple of guys wearing Ducati jackets for help and a third guy with a pickup truck offers to go with them. We watch the crew disappear around the corner. About five minutes pass and I finished my Corona.
The place was real quiet and it was getting dark so I figured it was a good time to leave.
As I looked left to pull out of the parking lot I noticed most everyone at the bar was saddleing up.
I had my MOMENT last summer on our trip to Tail Of The Dragon. Parking lot at the hotel was full and I was trying to pull out of the parking spot I was in, just as I tried to turn around the row of bikes I stalled it. The only thing that stopped me from laying it all the way down was the highway peg that was sticking out.
I picked her up real quick and kept going. I dont think anyone even saw me. I know if my brother saw me I still would be hearing about it.
Toastman where in Queens are you? I lived there for 21 years before moving to Florida.
Last summer I had taken my bike in for a warranty claim . Three days later the shop calls and tells me it's done . So , my father drove me to the dealership , and drops me off . I go in , sign the paper work , as the tech is bringing my bike around . He jumps off , and lets it sit idling . I jump on , look around and kick it into first . CLUNK ! Whoops , I forgot to squeeze the clutch . Very stupid looking , right in front of the dealership , with about 20 onlookers . I just quietly fired it back up , and rode off .
So... my dad didn't ride much.... but he did have an old Tote-Goat (for those that remember). I'm about 9, and I'm cruising that thing around the house a few times. I'm ready to put her away, and head into the garage. Reach down to hit the spark-plug grounder and kill the engine, but the dame thing had broke.... and I wasn't slowing down near fast enough and I was already part way into the garage... so I reached down on that old Briggs & Stratton to pull the plug wire off...
holy ****.... those little magnetos put out a hell of a whollop... almost couldn't let go.... finally stopped... but not after going over the top of the lawn mower, and basically through the barbeque... front tire about a foot up the back wall... right arm hurting like a bitch....
got me some learning that day boys..... lol...... nobody else saw it.... but if they had, they'd still be laughing.
