Default pulled a real smooth move this weekend.

don't have the bob equipped for 2-up riding yet, so this weekend i stole the keys to my dad's street glide (not really, i asked, he said sure) and set out with girlfriend in tow.

we headed about an hour away to go hit miracle mile in freeport, LI.

lots of bikes out, so we park and settle at an outdoors patio-bar for lunch.

as we're eating 20 or so bikers roll into the bar to eat and drink.

comes time for us to leave and we're puling out of the parking lot which is across the street from the patio, in direct view of the bar.

dono how it happened, maybe just not being used to the weight of the SG, but as i was turning out of the lot, i had to kind of hesitate for another car to pass and i let the street glide sputter and stall...in front of a packed bar full of bikers.

started the bike back up to raucous applause and rode out of there.

Glad to hear it was just a stall and not a drop. BTW, I'd bet that most of them have been there done that at one time or another.

Eh, no big deal.

I remember last year when a guy I know did an awesome smokey burnout in front of about 150 bikes getting ready for a parade. The very next thing he did was a power slide across the parking lot in front of all the other bikes!

Yes, his name is JOE KNAPP

I'm still waiting for the punchline...like "I laid it down." I did that (dropped a bike) in front of morning rush hour (yeah, a lot of freakin people) traffic in NJ on my bud's Goldwing, with a passenger.

Here is a story to make you feel a little better.
I am the Commander for a chapter of a bike group. As Commander I lead when we ride. So one time we pull out with a small group of around 8 bikes go around a corner or two and as we pass threw a 4 way intersection my bike sputters and dies with the group behind me. I had forgot to turn the gas on. And everyone saw me reach down and open the valve.

me fighting for my life trying to keep that huge *** bike with my girlfriend on the back upright with some laughing going on from a few onlookers was punch line enough for me.

wasn't a big deal 5 minutes later when we hit the highway in the beautiful 70 degree sunshine though.

I forgot to mention all the times I have attempted to start my bike in gear without the clutch. Back in my sport bike days, that didnt work. The HD likes to jump!

I can see that being a little embarasing.

A couple of years ago there was a bunch of us sitting on "the strip" in Penticton BC having some pops. I travelled with my family in our car and had a friend bring my 50cc scooter in his truck for some touring about. I left my HD Street Bob at home. These 2 idiots on Electraglides were making fun of my scooter. Later that night as they were parking their EG's on the strip across from us one of them laid his over, forgot the kickstand I guess. As they both lifted it to set it upright it went over the other way and took down the other EG as well. Haha. both bikes on their sides. When they tried to start 'em and get the H outa there neither one started because of the lean switch cut-off. PRICELESS!
