I have mid controls on my FXDC. I'm very comfortable riding with the mids. My legs don't cramp in the mid control position. My legs can't reach forward controls on the Dynas. I haven't installed highway pegs because they'd need long extensions. I don't think I'd like using them configured that way.
Only have about 1600 miles on my 2010 Super Glide, but I just did two 300+ mile day rides on very twisty roads, and I very much like the way the bike feels with the mid controls. I'm pretty used to riding in that position....my Valkyrie has mid controls, with highway pegs. I'm waiting for the HD adjustable highway pegs for this bike to arrive at the indy shop that ordered them for me....which will be nice for changing positions on the road 'between the twisties'.
I don't see me putting forward controls on the bike, though I'm very long legged at 6'3". Frankly, I'm surprised at how comfortable this little bike really is.....the effect of sidewinds is, of course, much more pronounced on the Super Glide than the Valkyrie.....but the way this bike handles tight curves is amazing for a cruiser.
I bought my 05 Super Glide with forward controls but just couldn't get comfortable. It really felt like a reach. I swapped them out for mids and highway pegs and it is perfect.
