I have a 2010 FDXC and am considering putting on some slip on mufflers. I don't want anything too loud and am considering the HD Screamin Eagle Street Performance and have a couple of questions.
1. Are the a lot louder than to stock mufflers?
2. They have one that fits '07 - '09 at $299 49 state legal 80492-07 and also one list for '10 at $374 50 state legal 80678-08. What is the diff, (CAT conv??).
3. Is the fit for mounting the same for both mufflers. I would like to get rid of the CAT Conv anyway.
They're a good bit louder, but nothing like straight pipes. When I bought my bob with stock exhaust my buddy's se's drowned mine out when he was in front. I couldn't hear him when he was behind me. Now I run V&H straightshots, and can barely hear him in front, and he won't ride behind me. They'll give you a real nice note without the window rattling volume of straight pipes.
Unless you live in CA don't get the CA mufflers. I've heard they're really quiet, and the extra emission crap will rob you of some performance. Not to mention the higher price tag.
I just installed the SE 49-State slip-on mufflers, along with the SE A/C and download on my 2009 FXDC. SE 49-State slip-on mufflers are not much louder than the stock mufflers in terms of sound level in my opinion. I believe they are below 80 db, like the stock mufflers. They definitely have more bass than the stock mufflers, and the sound seems to carry farther. I like the sound.
