I recently purchased a 2006 Dyna Low Rider, fuel injected. It has Vance and Hines short shot pipes. It does well accelerating until top end then seems to be starving for fuel, any ideas?
If the pipes are all that are on it then it is probally lean on the top end. I had the same issue when I was just running slip-ons. I added a breather and a Power Commander and it runs alot better now.
The breather is indeed the air filter. There are several to choose from. Screamin Eagle High flow air filter kit, Arlen Ness Big Sucker are the two most probably used. A power commander plugs into your electronic control module and adjust how the bike runs. The power commander web site has different "maps" to choose from, depending on what you have on your bike. The vance & hines, high flow air filter and power commander will help a stock bike run a lot better with the correct map. If you do ant engine mods in the future, the power commander will help to dyno tune the bike. Good luck.
Guess someone has to say it. Call Fuelmoto. They're a site sponsor - probably at the top of your page - and are amazing. I purchased slipons elsewhere ebay great deal - and call fuelmoto for powercommander and SE air filter and backing plate. Believe it or not I paid around $300 - free shipping and I was able to put it all together by myself and I AM A GIRL!! Thw power change is amazing. Keith and Jamie will take care of you. Good Luck!
Definatley get some type of fuel management. I run a fuelpak, and I'm very happy with it. I don't have any experience with other modules, so I can't say good or bad about them.
Just make sure you do them at the same time, cause you'll be way to lean with just the air kit.
