First gear whine on 2006 superglide

First gear whine on 2006 superglide
this is my first harley. Since the day I got it, I hear a whine when I downshift to first gear. Like when coming down to a stop. Is this normal? I dont't hear it in any other gears.

1st gear is noisey, a little more then the other gears. Gear ratio. Are you sure that is what you are hearing. The belt can be noisey; also, brakes make a little noise breaking in.

All transmissions will whine a little bit when you are downshifting and braking......75w90 gear oil in the trans will quiet it some. I am using the redline shockproof heavy and still get a bit of downshift whine.

I gave up a long time ago worrying about noises...any way to hide them works for me!
I wouldn't be too worried about it man.

LOL@ tood,
Yes I do plan onsome pipes very soon. overall the harley is a great ride. after a week and a half the superglide feels downright small(and I am only 5'8"). BUT...... it gets down the road in a hurry!!
