Default Fly Screen on a Dyna

I ran across these awhile back and did some searching on them. Wasnt much info on them for a Dyna but thought it may look ok.

I did some testing with it today and I am pretty impressed with it so far. It seems to do just what I was wanting from it. It directs just enough wind to stop most of the helmet lift you get with a half helmet. It also does decrease the the wind against the chest as well.

It feels like riding with no shield but gets rid of some of the things I dont like about not having a shield. It feels pretty similar to the windvest with a summer shield on it but with 100 times more adjustment. Probally also similar to what you would get from a quarter fairing.

The winds picked up to over 25 MPH here this afternoon so made it harder to see its effects once that happened, so will do some more adjusting tomorrow and get a final decision on it.

I'd be interested in your further test results. I don't mind wind in the face, but it's the wind on the chest at highway speed that tires this old body after 100 + miles. Never could deal with the buffeting associated with a full shield.

Okay, found it on a Ducati site ... obviously they don't have a "version" to work with an FXDF, but what are the dimensions of the opening for the headlight, and does it look like it might accept some modification?

Its made by National Cycle, they dont show a version for a Fatbob but this one could be made to work pretty easily. Dyna isnt the only model this one works on so it has some adjustment in it.

If the cut out for the light wasnt big enough it could be mounted just slightly above the lights. You could easily cut off to two corners as well to give more room.

If you notice the side bars, if you mount them the opposite direction it would make the mount wider. Some models this one worked for mounted that way. The brackets on the screen can also be moved out to make it wider. I am not positive if that would be enough to be wide enough (not sure exactly how much wider the forks are) but it should be close enough you could make up the rest with spacers.

Some years ago i ran a BMW 1150 R with a very similar screen ( BMW made ) and it worked as you described. Looks good as well, thinking you have hit on a good one.

Like I said once the winds picked up so strong it made testing useless. It has just a ton of adjustment you can make so it takes some time.

I had it were it felt good with just some slight buffeting in my glasses. I put my strap on my glasses and it took care of it but I think with some more fine tuning I could get rid of it with out the strap.

Yeah, it's not very noticeable so if you can get the benefit out of it, that's the best of both worlds!
