[QUOTE=macnab_sf;6496246]I am now starting to understand how regional styles develop based on where one lives and the kind of riding one does.[QUOTE]

Nice looking ride.
I don't get the whole holding on at high speeds, I run 80+ frequently just as relaxed as 40, and I do not get any wobble whatsoever, so not sure what you are doing, but certainly not my experience with Apes.
I could not be more comfortable on the interstate.
Even when I lived in CA I never lanesplit, too many idiots constantly changing lanes to put my life in their hands.

I like it a lot. I think I recommended George to someone on here a while back. His risers look great.

Yeah I saw that post with the pic. I printed the pic and took it with me and George says, "That's Bill's bike." The risers are made by Redwood Eng. same as the ones on that pic you posted.

I did not enjoy riding the apes at speed in the wind or lanesplitting with them. [due respect to those who can and do] The narrow drags have made this a whole new bike to ride. While I had the tank off I relocated front signals, removed horn, charcoal can, frame stickers, and trim ring from air cleaner cover. I realize the cables are longer then they need to be, and I will maybe fix that eventually. Thanks to those who provided assistance. In May I have my first gas welding class, and then I hope to work on "stage two" which will be the rear end. [Unless stage two becomes wheels and powdercoating first ]

Thanks also to Spade George at Hole in the Wall Redwood City for supplying the bars and risers and lots of support.

Good for you, man. I understand what you are saying, and I'm fine if people file this under "personal problem" and not something that affects everyone. It has been pretty windy here recently, and my saddle's back lip isn't all that high. My front tire is pretty badly cupped at this point and the section of fwy where I was getting wobbles is grooved. Wobbles was one issue, being a sail in the wind pushed off the back of the seat was a second issue, and lanesplitting was a third issue.

Ride on,
Dan
