Bobber, I have mid pegs with the controls associated with them. Hiway pegs are just that, pegs forward on the frame, with no brake pedal or shifter (brake and shifter are at your heel). I have seen people with mid pegs never take their feet off their hiway pegs, and they shift and brake with their heels. Maybe I need to practice this if I am going to stay with mids.
Although im not a rider yet, i am to assume that unless on the highway the "highway" pegs are not to be used?...
Highway pegs change your position and thus your ability to control the bike in aggressive situations. You never see forward controls on motocross, right? Same concept.
Nothing wrong with highway pegs (I have them) but the OP will probably tell you he should have had his feet on the mids going into a sharp, blind curve with bad shoulders.
I use mine on the interstate and on "wide open" roads where I'm less likely to run into emergency maneuvers. Still, anything can happen, any time, any where. The real takeaway here is you can never be too alert or careful.

Not to change the subject here, but......gumbo. Man, do I ever miss that down here in Brasil. Can't get anything like it here.
**** man, make some. Not hard at all. I've got an insatiable appetite for extremely hot stuff, I dunno wtf is wrong with me but I love HOT food. My buddies probably won't even be able to eat this gumbo
Taddeoeg is right. I had just battled all the other idiots and 40 miles of hiway with 25 mph headwinds. Finally got off the hiway and assumed the game was over. As I'm sure many of you have heard before, PLAY TILL YOU HEAR THE WHISTLE.
