Coming home about an hour ago, 1/4 mile from the house on a little black top road, a steep hill with a 90 degree curve in it (blind curve), tooling along about 30 mph around the corner with my feet on the hiway pegs (I know, lesson learned), met a dually in the middle of the curve taking up most of the road, not flying but coming on pretty good. Alls I could see was the broken up pavement on the side of the road and/or the ditch(don't remember what I saw, but I do remember seeing it). Semi startled, I wasn't really interested in grabbing a bunch of front brake so I decided to "dirt track" it, and let me tell you, street tires don't do much in a ditch. Jst kinda slid out. Pretty sure the driver in the truck didn't even know I went down (hope not, my fault). Jumped up looked around to see if anyone else saw it, didn't see anyone, picked up the bike (I thought it would have been alot heavier, but my boood was pumping pretty good at the time), scooted on to the house and fixed a pretty good drink. Got real lucky (for a dumbass). Gonna have a pretty good bruise on my left hip, but nothing worse than you find on a Monday morning after a hard weedend of drinking.
Folded my shifter lever back, scuffed (not scratched) left side of tank and bent the handle bars. Not interested in straightening the bars (wasn't that crazy about them anyway), but looking to see what some of y'all like in 14" apes, and looking for suggestions getting scuff marks out of black denim.
Thanks for your help, and remember to keep your heads out of your asses while your out there.
Sorry to hear that. I had a butthole puckering momet just a few hours ago as well but it was from a jackass swerving out in front of me, guess he just didn't see me but he sure should have heard me. I'm drinkin some shiner and making gumbo to "get over" it
hopefully in the next week I am putting on forward controls, picked some up cheap just waiting on shift rod and brake rod, could part with the stock shifter if you pay shipping. Glad your ok.
Sorry to hear my fellow Texan went down brother, but am glad to hear not much more than a few bruises and scratches, that's good news. Keep in mind this is a holiday weekend bro's and there are gonna be plenty of stupid asses out there on the roads.

Although im not a rider yet, i am to assume that unless on the highway the "highway" pegs are not to be used?....i should reiderate..i have ridden since the age of 9 dirtbikes, 3 and 4 wheelers just not on the street. In my car i have been known to be on the agressive side. since my first post so many people here have given alot of advice and im thankful. YES all the a$$holes will be out there. Today on the way home i drive the total oppisite from my usual type of driving.....it opend a whole new prospective on how to observe traffic...and yes NO ONE pays attention they could give a rats azz about sharing the road with those on 2 wheels....Becareful out there people
