I didn't think it was even possible to scrape any metal with the stock exhaust and stock height unless you let the peg fold up a whole lot as it's dragging into the ground. Perhaps it has happened at the same turn out where there is some sort of crest or bump that effectively "high-centers" the bike as it's passing over. Even then, seems you would take a nice shot to the right peg before you heard the metal-on-road sound.

leaning into corner instead of counter balancing - what did this mean I didnt really understand it? - use little words I am sometimes a bit slower than most :-(

I have always just sat up straight on bikes when turning and used the gyro effect of counter steering to lean over the bike? sometimes if being real aggresive I would also shift over to the side i am turning on, but I dont need to do that much on the harley as the suspension draggin the pipes, pegs well before I would need to do this.

was that 1/2" over on the rear?

Default Counter balance.

On slow turns typically you are counter balancing. Point the front wheel in the direction of the turn, begin turning and the bike will naturally lean. Typically your body remains upright in a counter balance position. This is different from high speed turn where bike leans and you lean in direction of bike. If she was leaning into a slow speed turn this would be an aggressive move and might scrap some metal. But like others, I think it would be the peg first. Not the muffler bracket.

Bones.
