Put SE air cleaner on my 2010 wideglide and now I need to be bowlegged to reach rear brake. Have got to change out this stupid teardrop cover. Don't want plain round chrome cover for my bike - wife has that on her streetbob. Want to find something black to match my pipes but even Harley doesn't make a round, black cover.
Dying for some relatively cheap alternatives. Ideas?? Don't have a lot of tools so making my own would have to be super easy to do.
I had a similiar problem where my foot would comfortably rest on the left peg but only rest about half of the right peg with the air cleaner in the way. I happen to have ISO pegs and noticed that Kuryakyn made peg extenders. I looked on eBay and apparently someone else had the same problem and only needed one extension and I got it for $5. These things retail for like $40 a pair. It didn't help with the brake pedal but it sure made my foot more comfortable on the peg. This is the link to where you may find something to help. http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go...tID/10/scID/93
Back in the day we used to get a pot from the thrift store, cut the bottom out, drill a hole in the center, paint it however we wanted and mount it. Cost like $2.00. just my
Locked, are you vertically challenged? Not making a joke if you are. I have a 90* (SE heavy breather style; off-brand) on my bike and that thing sticks out a mile but I never touch it with my leg. 6'1" w/ 32" inseam.
So, that stock cover does not stick out like the HB does so I'm wondering how do you have to ride "bow-legged".
A Cheap Alternative!! When you go to sleep at night,Take 6 pillows and put them between your legs, then tie your ankles together. And do this for a month.....And you'll have that Bow legged effect your looking for... Well it might work??
I have the same bike so we've probably been looking at similar parts. On the Harley web site there are pictures of a wide glide with black rocker covers, black round a/c cover and a few other parts. It's available as a wallpaper download. And I'm sure I saw a parts list in PDF form. So in addition to all the other good ideas that will save you money there is a dealer part. I'm leaning toward the dealer part cause I like the plain look that also shows more of the pushrods. This is my first bike in 15 years and I'm loving it like nobody's business. 1800 miles of fun so far.
