I have an engine guard - dropped my bike the first day in my garage pushing the bike, long story. Saved the paint and gives me a place for highway pegs. I also have saddlebags because I like going to rallys. I agree a bike is a personal choice - I love mine, others may not. Like I said I set my bike up for distance runs but everything comes off for around town.

I put my sportster in the shed the other night, the lights were off, when I (thought)I put the kickstand all the way down it sprang back up and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I leaned it over and couldn't hold it up, The bike fell over but fortunately no damage was done except to bruise my leg.
