Default Highway bars

After Dropping my new bike several times I decide I better get a highway bar before I ruined something on the bike. After several attemps getting the wrong ones I went with the HD Bar. I wanted to put some foot pegs on the bar so I could rest my feet, well I dang feet wont reach the bar, no matter how I adjust the foot pegs. I have short leggs but I didn't think they were that short. The more I look at that bar the more I dont like the way it looks, it secures at the bottom with U bolts to the frame.

anyone know of a good combination that works and looks good ?

i found that not dropping your bike anymore negates the need for a crash bar and will both directly and indirectly save the aesthetics of your bike.

No idea what the circumstances were the multiple times you dropped your bike, but I do feel the need to point out that highway pegs completely change the geometry of how you interact with the bike. You have much less control when your feet are on the hiway pegs.

With short legs and some problems keeping the bike up, I'm not sure highway pegs are the best investment for you right now.

I have a highway bar on my FXDC with the 360 degree rotating peg mounts. They work great because you can move them up and down on the bar, plus they have about a 3-4" long arm that can be turned the 360 degrees and the peg can be rotated as well. I am only 5'8" and I can sit very comfortably with my feet up on those pegs.

I found some cheapo highway pegs on e-bay for 60 bucks. They just attach to where the forward controls would be. I put em on for cruising the highway. As far as dropping your bike... that sucks, just be careful and maybe wrap your bike in bubble wrap...

I have short legs....... I'm 5'2" with a 26" inseam. Have my highway pegs attached to frame. I can almost reach the one on the left....but my air cleaner sticks out too far on the right for my leg to go around it and reach the right peg........so I feel your pain.
Would be nice to just stretch my legs out ( have mid controls naturally) once in a while on those long stretches of highway. Would never think of using them around town.
Putting on Kury DUALLY ISO pegs with the stirrups helped though. Like having floorboards. Lessens leg fatigue.

You might want to look into buying a trike kit and fogetting the crash bar. That way you wont have to worry about falling over....www.trikesareus.com

first time I droped it I was off the bike trying to look inside my gas tank gently rocking it from side to side. there were two beautiful women in a convertable right beside me, so I wanted to disapear

Second time I pulled into my shop at an angle probably too fast and I hit the front brake and we went down, front tire skidded on dry dust foor.

last time I was just trying to turn real tight in front yard (grass)

So I'm learning to be more careful.
