I just ran into a guy who had flat black pipes. He said they were chrome pipes that he had scuffed up and shot with flat black paint for grills. He had done them a couple of years ago and they still looked perfect. Perhaps you can tweak up your pipes with some fine grit sandpaper and a little bit of flat black, high temp paint.
Sooooo, did his pipes look like "formerly chrome pipes with high temp grill paint" or "black denim pipes"? If that question makes sense. I'm thinking of going that route once I pull out my stock baffles for some Cycle Shack ones.
And Don, don't worry about it. It happens to just about everyone. Be glad it happened in your driveway and not in a busy intersection.
Sorry that happened....you were moving the bike on the opposite side of the kickstand? Bad idea. Second bad idea was leaning over the bike to put the kickstand down. I'd say make note of that procedure in the "don't do" column.
yeah lesson learned. I had the seat off and rather than just straddle the bike I was walking along side. I was on the kickstand side but when I leaned it over to fully extend the stand I lost it on my sloped driveway.
That fuggin sucks!!! I have had bikes my whole life and have the worst luck. Sometimes my fault sometime only partially. (some stupid bitch pulled out in front of me coming out of a liquor stor and I locked up the front end and fell over. Part my fault ofr locking it up but if she would have been paying attention.....grrrrr)Every one of them has been over. Usually early in its life and always only once per bike. I sound like a total poser hack but it just seems that fate has decided that it is not my bike until I have to buff out some scratches and change some parts.
Part of the game. At least you ride it and not bitch about scratching it on the side of the trailer.
That sucks. I know engine guards don't look good on dynas but on my previous ride, I forgot to put the kickstand down and the engine guard caught the fall.
Second time on my new bike.......45 miles on her..... came to a slow rolling stop on uneven pavement. At that time, I could only reach the ground on my tip toes while almost standing up. Well, foot didn't reach the ground....and over we went. I too am thankful for engine guards as saved me from being pinned under 670 pounds of bike. The guards gave my leg enough of an opening to slide out from.
I only scraped the engine guard, top of my primary cover and side of my left rear turn signal.
Once the bike has gone past it's point of no return..... they're going over.... and there ain't nothing you can do but hope and pray for minimal damage.

Standing next to the bike, I couldn't tell they didn't come from the factory that way. The pipes had chrome tips. He took them off when he painted the pipes. So he has flat black pipes with chrome tips. It looked really good.
Flat black is pretty easy to shoot in terms of making it look good. It's much easier than, for example, spraying a silver metallic without getting tiger stripes. This guy did his with rattle cans and it came out as good as if he had paid someone.
