What is the standard sized baffle? 1.5 or 1.75 in diameter. I have been looking at rush pipes. Hypothetically suppose I wanted to swap baffles to BCT or another,,, are BCT available in both sizes?
Don't know. Remove an OEM late model Dyna muffler. Hold it up to light. You can't see through it. Hold up a Rush of what ever size baffle and you see right through it. THe 1.5, 1.75, 2.0, etc. refers to the internal size hole in inches that you are looking through. The larger the number the louder it is. Too loud IMO.
I was lucky enough to find a pair of Screamin Eagle II's (rare find) for my Dyna. When you hold these up and look through the end you se a quarter moon. The baffle scoops up 3/4 of the gas flow. Nice sound. Not too load. Offers just enough back pressure. The ECM seems to be able to compensate for the reduced back pressure. No decel popping. Lov'in it!
Bugger's right, on the Rush pipes the baffles are interchangeable because the size refers to inner diameter. I have the 1.75 and I'm pleased with them. My bike is totally stock otherwise so I don't feel there would be a performance gain by going larger yet, just more noise (and possibly loss of torque due to less backpressure).
Bugger, I had the SE II on my 06 Street Bob and they sounded good. Eventually, one of the baffles blew out so I installed the BCT baffles designed for those pipes and they sounded even deeper with similar volume (maybe a little louder).
just ordered my BCT baffles for the V&H sideshots I have on the way, I just emailed BCT and they told me what I needd great people good service so far.
