My rims are powder coted im still learning how to use computer and camera so bear with me
the picture is not the best of quality im used to 35mms
As an aside, I really digyour pipes ... what kind are they?
Back on topic:
I really like all the bikes with black powdercoated (formerly chrome or polished) parts. I am thinking it must be a major pain in the kiester to disassemble and break down some of theparts ... especially lower fork sliders, triple trees, etc. Can the Dyna's rear shocks be powdercoated intact?
To start off I'mthinking of powdercoating my 11-spoke mag wheels that were stock on my '05 Super Glide.
Anyone who has experience with powdercoating, I'd appreciate your lessons learned and any tips and best practices (or how not to do it!).
1st off... i cant see a reputable powdercoater willing to warranty a finish done that way...
too many chances for failure...
after having the tires removed...i took my wheels apart myself...[not rocket science]
coated the spokes [myself] and had them re-laced and trued by a local indy [bicycle repair shops can do this as well]
i had these steps done by someone who knows what the hell theyre doing... as it's kinda important..considering i'm the one riding on those wheels!
remember..[in most cases]..you get what you pay for
well i do powder coating on the side and i can tell you that i wouldn't do any wheel job for 20bucks.. im not trying to be a smart a$$ im just saying you get what you pay for.. i also would dissasemble the wheels because the grease in the bearing will find its way in the powder.. at a cure time of 20 to 35 mins. at 400 t0 450 deg. i promise that any grease or dirt will find its way in the powder.. like i said im not trying to be a smart a$$ im just trying to help...
