So how much is the 1000 mile service going to set me back on my Dyna Bob? And how long can I expect it to take if I make an appointment? Couple of hours or all day? Never took my other bike in for fluids did it myself, but I want a good "look over" on this first one! Thanks.
I pulled up what all they are "suppose" to do & it's quite a bit...since I have spoke rims I want them to check, tighten, & keep the rim "true". Damn, that is a good chunk of change...could think of a lot of other HD items I could spend that money on!
Do it yourself, you will regret getting ripped off haveing them change your fluids for that much. I wouldn't be to concerned with your spokes being out of true at 1000 miles, but if your concerned, take it to your local dirt bike shop, they should do it for a lot less and a lot better then your hd dealer.

Most places I don't care how respectable, will say sure, and tell you afterwards it took them more time for the extra work. On a new bike the teks will inspect your critical fasteners .....visually at best. I have a great dealer IMO but I don't trust the tekkies so i bought the manual and do everything myself now. At least that way I know what has or hasn't ben done.
You can buy a spoke tool for cheap and just check them periodically, just make sure you have them all even.

The local HD shop gives a free 1000 miles service when you buy a bike there...Probably figured in the purchase price....They use the word "Free" but it will always cost you something....Like going to Syn3 etc.
I paid 220.00 because i changd to syn-3 what a waste of money and time. Buy yourself a shop manual and a spoke wrench. hell i camn get Mobil1 for 7.99 a quart and a hd filter for 10.00 more green in my pocket
