Yeah Vic, same $5 ebay fender off the fire damaged bike! Lee stripped it, then sprayed some kind of goo on the underside that protects against rust, rock dings, etc. From Lee's email to me...
I decided that the rear fender needed to be stripped, it had areas that I was afraid would corrode over time, & the couple light coats of primer I had applied a couple days prior started to wrinkle up a bit. So I went ahead & stripped it to bare metal. Then applied a grey acid etch primer to prevent rust, & then applied the standard primer surfacer to sand & paint over. Now I know the fender will last, it's good as new now & to factory standards. The underside of the fender was also in bad shape, so I cleaned it up & scuffed it with 240 grit. Then applied an undercoating called Gravi Gard. It's a stone chip protector & rust inhibitor. That will keep all the elements from beating it up too bad & making the fender rust from underneath.
I have used PKellyMc for almost everything internet-related since I first became computer literate; email, UserID's, etc. It's almost an alter-ego at this point. I will mention to any/all who ask, that, along with its personal meanings, its display on my bike is also a small way of honoring these HDForums and recognizing the invaluable contributions they and the members here have made in just two short years, to the tips & savings in time, money, and headaches in furthering my enjoyment of my bike(s) and the brotherhood of being a HD owner. (sniff!)

That prep work is fun, isn't it? (I hope you can hear the large amount of sarcasm in those words.)
It all looks great, Patrick. A red wide glide...hmm. It may be a little faster than the white but not as fast as black. lol
As far as your mo****r, I'm the same way with my member name. I've used it in one form or another since I moved to SC just about 11 yrs ago now. Not sure what I'm going to do when I cut it all off. I dread getting the 'monk' or 'toilet seat'. Ya know, hair on the sides and back, nothing on top.

Hmmmmmmmm, how do I break this to you this, Vic....the only "prep work" I did was buying the parts thru ebay. Lee did everything; stripping the rear, peeling the tank badges, and repairing two dings on the tank (one hidden under the right badge). I did delay getting the front fender to him by a few days when I realized I still needed to hog-out the holes like I did to my white fender, so I could mount it closer to the tire and clear the SE Fork Brace. Not really paint prep work there, though.
When I consider I got all this done for $1200, I'm very pleased! Lee is awesome!
lol Well, that prep work can still be pretty rough. Ya know, the clicking through ebay. The entering of the cc #. I know I've broken a sweat or two during that process.
