Posting the model and year of your bike will help to find the correct settings...

If you are pulling your bike apart, get yourself a factory service manual. It has all that stuff and much more.

VERY IMPORTANT: I'm ***-u-ming you don't have a service manual - If you're planning on reusing the old bolts, make sure this is OK for your model bike. Some of these type of bolts are meant to be torqued only once. If you reuse them they could fail under load - not a good thing!

thanks for all the advice..
1. It's a Dyna---that's why I posted it in the DYNA SECTION.
2. if I had a manual I wouldn't have to ask..would I?
I thought the forum was to help each otherf , not to say go get a manual and find out yourself.

Dude, with that kind of attitude you might not get much help. Everyones got a busy life and it takes time to find information to help each other out. It's only out of the goodness of their heart that you'll get help. It's not a requirement.

merc68,

You haven't been around HDF very long. What you are asking one of us to do is get out our service manual, which we paid for with our own money, look through it and find the information you want, for free. If you are going to start working on your own bike, you will find your own manual very helpful in many ways, as well as supplying that information. This forum works best when you hit problems not covered in the manual, when we can use our experience to help you. But you have to start by helping yourself!

If you are lucky, you may have rotor bolts that have a service life of 3 applications, otherwise you need to buy a fresh set. That means you can tighten them up to full torque just three times before replacing them. How do I know? because I just fitted a new rotor to one of my other bikes. If you are fitting a new one the instructions came with it, including torque figures.

We still don't know what model and year your bike is. For a 2003 Dyna the torque is 30-45 ft lbs, using blue Loctite as well.

While you are at your local dealer getting new screws, to be safe, also buy yourself a manual! And parts list.

grbrown and EricInNCa: I'm with you!!

merc68,
Although I still don't know the specific (Dyna) model and year of your bike, "I will turn the other cheek" by posting the info below after having done a job in the Dyna models section for "critical fasteners" and "torque values". I hope this will suit you, sir!

Credits to the members who initially posted the info below!

When GREENOHAWK69 is able to compile his list, I'll post that here too. (Thanks in advance for that, GREENO!)

Just because a fastener isn't listed above doesn't mean it isn't critical.

This document is for quick reference only, please consult your own service manual for verification. Torque Values are for 2003 Dyna models only. Remember to always disconnect your battery before servicing your motorcycle.

The attached file is in pdf format. It can be opened, saved, and printed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which comes free with most computers.
