Default ext. controls: an expensive error

well i put kuryakyn extended forward controls on my bike last night (9064)... almost. i really only got the mounting plates on and stopped. i think they are too far forward. i bet i would love the position for cruising, my old highway pegs were just a couple inches too short for my liking, where these are now forward of the old highway peg position. but for foot controls and brakes, i just fell like im stretched out a little to much, that i would be lacking a little control. im 6'0 with a 34" inseam, so these should be fine for me, i am just thinking its a preference thing. so, 350 bucks later and i have set of partially installed extneded forward controls that i am stuck with, the vendor won't take them back, and with good reason i suppose. if there is anyone with the stock kit in good condition that wants some more leg room, let me know and we can trade... you'll get everything, most of it not even touched, in the box and brand new. i would even trade for the harley kit (but not stock wide glide controls). anyway, lesson learned. i searched all over for bikes with stock and extended controls and couldn't find one to test ride. my friends stock wide glide felt a little short, these feel a little long, should gone short... so don't make the same mistake i did.

thanks. im 6'-1" with at least a 34" inseam, thought the long ones would be fine. im sure its just a preference thing, i would just like them a hair closer, about an 1" or 2"

I've made those regrettable expensive mistakes before. You'll find a way out.

I'm 6'2" , 34 inseam and have HD forwards and they fit great but I'd like another 2 inches of streching room on the highway. I just ordered a mustang vintage solo and hope it pushes me up and back.

I'm 6'3" and i have the harley forward control kit and it feels great, good control. I've sized up on bikes with the extension kit and it felt too stretched. I wouldn't go for it cause with the regular kit i scuff my heals going through the canyons and the extension kit would probably drop mye down more. When i'm on the highway and need to stretch i just kick my feet out and rest the back on my ankle on top of the forwards.

Ohh what a biatchh.
I just purchased Kuryakyn extensions for my HD forwards( which I ordered with my 06 FXDCI.)

I'm 6'6" though and a 37 or so inseam so they will fit perfect.

Sell em' on ebay mate.

if u are lookin to trade the plates and rods with a set of regular forward control rods let me know i think that the only difference in the regular forward and the extended are longer plates and rods .. i was just going to buy a set for my forward controls because i want the longer reach .. maybe we can work something out and both be happy
