Default Patience and attentiveness!

Ok first, before anyone says it. I will post the finished pics when i get a chance! Now to the fun, ranting and absent minded part.

Well as i have posted a couple times, my 2010 Wide Glide was hit in the parking lot at work about a month back by a guy having a diabetic seizure on his way to work. Damage to the tank, front wheel, exhaust and sliders.

I had the wheel fixed at the HD shop, and have the tank on order (only a couple small dents, so its rideable). I ordered the exhaust, intake and fuelpak and did the work myself.

I have always been satisfied with Vance and Hines parts, until this install. Not a thing went as planned, and in my head that is how im justifying my absent mindedness. The V02 Naked was a pain to install from the start. The screws were not long enough, the spacer plate wholes werent drilled big enough, whatever they did, it didnt fit. Well after fixing all of that i got it put on and it looks good with the 8" round Harley Cover.

The exhaust was a doozy. Not so much the install, but the freaking O2 sensors. Man the rear one would just not cooperate. Im pretty sure it might be crossthreaded, but its in there and sealed tight, so im ok until time to replace the exhaust or sensor.

The fuel pak installed real easy like, easy to install and easy to program. But, they dont quite give you enough space under the seat for that thing!

Anyhow, i get it all done, tighten down the exhaust and sensors, double check the a/c kit, put the seat back on and take it for a ride. Rides awesome. I can feel the differance in the power, and im probably going to the QQ baffles to get the sound right. Well im done right? Hard install, but happy with the results.

Well i finished this project LATE last night, in my dimly lit garage. I get up and leave for work at 530 this morning and still dark, jump on the bike and haul *** the total of 1.1 miles to work. (convenient huh?) I get to work, parked under the ample lights of the parking lot, and i stand back and admire my handywork. Oh man its looking good! Exhaust and a/c cover is nice and shiny looking good. I walk around the other side just getting that good ole feeling when something you did turns out good ya know? Well im smiling and happy that all my hard work paid off, when DOH! I forgot to put the ECU cover back on, not only that, but i had only barely snugged the ECU box down! Mother F*************r. Well luckily i always have some hand tools in my bag, so i snugged it down before going into work, and its not supposed to rain today, so hopefully i should be ok! but damnit man.

Since i know i am never absent minded (insert sarcasm) i know that the combination of the pain in the *** install, along with the dimly lit garage, and my anxiety to finally be back on the bike again, all culminated into my impatience and lack of attentiveness! Thats my story and im sticking to it! Unless asked in a court of law, then im screwed.

Glad to see you're back on two wheels. You learned a little something about your bike and yourself.

If I may, had you bought a pc V, you would have saved yourself the o2 sensor anxiety.

The absent minded thing and of course the anxiety to get back in the saddle happens to everyone. It's just a matter of to what degree it rears its ugly head. At least yours was not too serious. I suggest going back over all the stuff you did in that dimly lit garage that night and double check things...

oh yeah, one of the reasons i rode it to work today was to get some miles on it and then put her back in the daylight and go over anything that might have came loose or find any rattles.
