Wide Glide Tuning
I have a 2003 FXDWG with Andrews 21G cams and stage one kit installed. I have the S&S adjustable rods and fueling lifters. The bike runs well and I'm happy with it overall. The stage one kit was done before I got the bike and I don't know who did it. After I finished installing the cams, I went to adjust the idle mixture. While attempting this, I noticed that turning the mixture screw didn't effect the idle at all. I haven't tuned a Harley carb before, but I have a fair amount of experience with tuning carbs on cages. I haven't ever ran into a situation where closing or backing the idle jet screw all the way didn't make any noticable change in the bike. I've followed the recommended warm-up proceedure and checked for leaks in the intake, but nothing appeared to be leaking. I can't understand how the bike seems to run OK, but the idle circuit isn't responding to any adjustments. Any ideas?
