Default Modifying HD Rigid Locking Leather Saddlebags

I currently have a set of The HD Rigid Locking Leather Saddlebags Part # 91615-09A

Has anyone modified a set of these so they can be used with the Easy Brackets? I like the storage of my bags, but hate the way saddlebags look.

I would like to try to do it, but I do want buy all Easy Bracket kit if it will not work.

Thanks!

If you don't like the way they look, sell them and make some decent coin back on them then buy what you do like. I wouldn't go tearing into them, but that's just me.

Why do you think you need to modify the bags to accept easy brackets? The EB just bolt on the back and then lock onto hardware they supply. You may or may not need to drill 4 holes into the back of your bags.

Agreed, if you don't like em, sell em, no since in riding around with regret. I actually have the same bags and I like em but to each his own.
If you are thinking you have to go with the ghost brackets to make em detachable, no you don't. There are tons of options to make em detachable, myself, I am using the cyclevision barebacks, off and on lickity split.

Let me restate my post, I do like the saddlebags for what that they are designed for. I dont like the way my bike looks with saddle bags. When traveling and going to work having saddle bags makes everything convenient. I wanted to go to ez brackets so I would have a quick detach method where I could take them on and off.

Can you tell me more about what you did the make them quick detach? That is my main goal, while also getting rid of the ugly HD kit for mounting them that I currently have.

Friend I couldn't agree with you any more, I thin the dyna looks best without bags on it personally BUTTTTT, about 90percent of the time I ride with my bags on. It's just for me too darn inconvenient to not have em. I go some where, I don't want to wear my jacket, gloves and crap if I'm not riding, so they stow great in the bags. I keep my tools in there if I break down, I usually keep a big jug of water too. I always laugh when I ride with a couple of my tupperware buds (crotchrockets), they say, man you should ride that thing with out the bags more, but who do you think is the first ones, when we get somewhere asking, hey man, can I leave my jacket in your saddle bag, hahahahahahahahha, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Anyway, I have tried a number of things for quick detach, because I want the flexibility of off/on, and I'm currently using and pleased with these,

You can buy em different places online, and they have different versions, for detachable bags with or without a detachable sissy bar, which I have that too, think they run about 125.00. They are a lot less hardware and no bracket metal extra stuff like the ghost or easy brackets. If you can't find a picture, then I'll look through my folder here and put one up, but I gotta start gettin ready for work so can't do it now.

Thanks for the help. One more question though, what did you do about the rear turn signals? I did the HD kit that relocates them further back and it looks like crap too if the bags are off. I need to find another solution for this also.

Thanks!

Yea, initially I did the hd relocation kit too, blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, what a pita, trying to put the wires through that tiny hollowed out bolt, and I didn't care for the way it looked, wish I could of returned it and got my money back. No I ended up getting the turn sigs off the docking rails completely. I bought one of these

http://greatbikegear.pinnaclecart.co...location-kits/,
the one I got was a laydown kit, houses the turn sigs, license plate, looks good, tidy's it up I think.

Don't have many shots of my rear end but here is one.

Just to give you an idea

And me too. I am looking at getting the same bags, and already have the HD Quick detach sissy-bar and hardware. I just want to have everything quick-detach. Oh, I have a 2010 fat-bob.
