I too am from the posh side of the pond, please forgive my rudeness, but where in her majestys fine kingdom are you from ? I am from Hertfordshire,
I just returned from Bisley last weekend, and it was spiffing.
Ta ta for now,
Good luck with the 07 bob,

I can just hear you fogbreathers talking. Walterwindbag - I have some Cycle shacks like Whiffleboy was talking about and I would definitely recommend an EFI remap with them. Just look inside and compare to a stock muffler, big difference. Even if you don't think you can feel the difference your leaned out motor can feel it resulting in higher temps. "With a little bit of luck" chances are your fair lady will be running just fine.

I have a 06 dyna lowrider, just put Vance and Hines straightshot slipons on it. It soounds much better, deep and somewhat louder. I also added the K&N A/C kit and the power commander fromj fuelmoto with their map loaded in it for my set up, damn, what a difference. It actually runs like they should of from the factory. But anyway, the pipes sound great
Hi y'all, I'm a newbie, fresh on today. I have been reading all I can about pipes, closed loop EFI, HiFlo A/C etc but I have a simple (ish) question.
When my brand new '07 Bob arrives in 2/3 weeks (flat black - natch) I am guessing it won't sound adequately Harleyish, fresh out of the box. I'm not so worried that there won't be enough power or torque for me BUT will I be able to change-out the silencers (mufflers as you so quaintly term them) for something with a bit of oomph and still leave the stock A/C - pipes/O2 sensors - original mapping in place?
I quite like the look of long shots or street sweepers but I don't know if the stock EFI/map will run lean? All I want is a reasonable sound!! Not too loud - say like an elephant farting through a quilt.
I do realise I would have to mod them with bungs for the lambda sensors, but I would have to paint them black anyway.
Any ideas?
Well congrats on getting a new 07.
If you want the "elephant farting through a quilt" sound get the SEII's. The indy. dealer I go to described them as sounding like a popcorn fart. I bought Cycle Shacks and like them, yes they are louder than the SEII's.
Vance and Hines slip ons for me, and no down load. Yet. The bike runs great, but I have noticed on real hot days, it seems to run a little warmer than I'd like[&:]
Hello Nigel, pardon my tardiness but I've been on hols this last week and only just fired up the old PC. I hail from the Shires, North Warwickshire to be exact. I can't wait for the SB, I'm so excited and I just can't hide it (I know, I know, etc).
I've been reading the forum for a few weeks now, including your own esteemed missives. It is both educational and entertaining. You can't beat first hand experience from punters for getting the lo down on the ho down.
Thank you all for your advice it is much appreciated.
You'll probably be running pretty lean. You'll backfire and sputter in decel, and plugs will be real white. You need some kind of enrichener. Most affordable is the techlusion tfi, around $200.
