Question FXDF - Black Heat Shield & Rush Slip-ons install

Parts should be in tonight, but I was wondering what process would be right to do put these on. Do I take care of the heat shields first before tackling the slip-ons, or do I do them both at the same time?

Also, I only managed to get a hold of one new clamp for the exhaust (none of the dealers within an hour of me had any in stock) - would it be better to use it on the top or on the bottom? Or should I just use the old ones and see if one of them give me a problem? I have under 500 miles on the bike, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

Thanks!

Your stock clamps will be fine don't worry about it.

Wound up focusing on the heat shield first, then the slip-ons. The OCD part of me couldn't get the front heat shield to line up exactly the way I want, so I know that I will be revisiting that. Impressions on the black heat sheild is that they look the way I'd like, but they feel kind of flimsy - almost cheap. But hey, they're just heat shields. Just wish it was easier to line up that first one.

As for the slip-ons, I tried using the stock clamps, but wound up with an exhaust leak. Over-tightened the top muffler trying to get rid of it and didn't trust the clamp anymore so I used the new one. Still have a slight exhaust leak though. I haven't heard any popping so I'm not sure what i will do about it.

Went with the 2" baffles and am not sure I like the sound. I had V&H shortshots on my Iron, and the V&H seem to have more bite to them. This is more of a bassy blat. I'm hoping that they get sharper with age, if not I will think about trying either the 1.75's because I heard they were less bassy or looking at what V&H slip-ons are available. (maybe I should have just went with the Big Radius, but I liked the slotted heat shield) It's not a volume issue, just type of sound.

Obligatory crappy cell phone pic:
