Thats awesome, we bought my wife an 08 Fat Boy back in Feb. She had never rode a motorcycle other than on the back until then. She would not hardly sit on it until she took the safety class, so 3 weeks ago she took it and passed with flying colors. I was at a buddies when she finished that day, so she said that she was gonna come down when she got I home I assumed she would be driving her cage...Nope!!! Her bike has an unmistakeable sound and I could hear it before I saw but couldnt believe it until she come into site.... I had the biggest smile on my face when she pulled in the driveway... My buddy looks at his wife and just shakes his head because she has a sporty that has officially become a dust collector. Here is a pic of her bike...

Thanks for sharing your proud moment. That's quite an accomplishment and you should be proud of her. My GF has mentioned eventually getting her own bike which just scares the crap out of me. She's never owned a bike or had even ridden on one until I got mine last fall. I guess we'll see how it all plays out.

It's a big deal - my neighbor's wife has been practicing for almost a year now and she still won't really go out on the road even with someone. She usually just heads over to a school that's by our block and practices there. I think a lot of it is having the right mindset. It can be tough...

Man... there is nothing better than seeing your wife roll up on her bike the first time she goes out on her own.
My girl started riding two years ago... we got her a 98 883. She ended up in a really bad accident on the freeway that put her in the hospital for a while. Her first words to me that night at the hospital when she finally regained her marbles was "this doesn't mean I'm not going to ride again"... talk about proud!
Here's a picture of her new 1200R we got her last year after her arms healed up and the insurance company finally came through. (we changed the bars pretty quick... I could barely ride the darn thing with the ones in the picture)

When I got my Super Glide in January 2007, my wife and I found so much enjoyment riding two-up almost every weekend. She enjoyed it at least as much as I did. But, lets face it, things were crowded.

She bought a P.O.S. Honda Nighthawk 250 and started learning to ride. In six months, she put 107 miles on it. All but about three feet of this was done riding the roads in our subdivision. The remaining three feet was done in the air as she hit a curb and flew over the handle bars. If I could just figure out a way to get her *** in that position in a bedroom setting.

In June 2008, after completing the Motorcycle Safety Course, she bought her first Harley, a 2006 Sportster Custom. She got on that thing and rode it like she'd had it all her life. She has put about 7,000 miles on it since then. It is wonderful to share rides with her now.

She had wanted to find something we could do to spend more quality time together and was thinking of taking up golf. Her acquisition of a motorcycle replaced that thought and works well cause I can't hear her bitchin' when she's on the motorcycle.

We have both discussed the inherent dangers associated with motorcycle riding and made a pact with each other. If something ever happens to one of us while riding, the other of us will hold no regrets. What ever happens, it will be while doing something we truly love.

Yep, my girlfriend is signing up for the next class. She has ridden dirt bikes and four wheelers in the past...so I'm not too worried, but still a bit. She drives a five speed Mustang GT so at least she has some coordination...

She is excited about it. If she passes it, I'm going to try to buy her Mom's Sportster for her...

I don't know, and don't get me wrong, I'm not knockin the Sporties, lord knows I've seen em, and man they're slammin rides, But if you're gonna do some riding, wouldn't it be feasible to get a larger bike. In the Dyna category. If her reach is the issue they sell seats that help in that category.

My wife flat out said hell no on a sporty. Not because of look, i dont think. But she thought it was way to uncomfortable. Her S.B. fits her perfect. Shes around 5'5" and im 6'2" and i think i would be the one riding a sporty before her!
