like the looks of the brawler solo.would like to know if anyone has had the brawler and the sundowner solo. and if they could compare the seats what would be the one they would keep for overall use
I just got a 2010 Street Bob. It came with the stock seat, of course. I ordered the custom stitched seat when I bought it and it just came in. That seat is the Brawler. I put it on and rode about 50 miles with it the other night. You don't say if you have mid or forward controls, but here are my observations:
With forward controls like I have, both the stock seat and the Brawler allow your butt to slide back. Mybe not a big issue for some, but I'm 5'08" and I have to readjust my seating position a lot. I have to do it with the stock seat as well, but it has more of a shelf built into it.
The Brawler is very comfortable, so if length-to-pegs is not an issue, then you may want to get one. It has a lower, sleeker profile and fits the bike more smoothly. If I had the mid controls, it would be perfect. I like the look of it so much that I will keep it for around town, bike night riding.
I just took an 1800 miletrip on my new Street Bob with the stock seat. I had a bag on the luggage rack and a small bag attached to the front of that bag so that it acted as a backrest for me. It put me forward about 3 inches and was perfect. In that mode, the stock seat and forward controls were great. Very comfortable.
I have had the Sundowner on two other bikes, a Deuce and a Street Glide. I love that seat! In my opinion, it it the best seat HD makes for spending any real time in the saddle. (Before I make anyone here angry, I have not tried the new Hammock seat with the air bladders) The Sundowner has a raised area at the back lip of the seat which provides just enough back support and feels great. Also along the side under your butt cheeks it has addition padding which helps keep your hips aligned and reduces fatigue.
My advice is to buy a used one on here or on Ebay and try it, along with any other you are looking at and then decide. It helps if you can swap them out side by side. I have done that and had no problems selling the seats I decided not to keep.
i havent got to ride with my sundowner solo yet, but it doesnt feel that great sitting on it in the grudge. i'm taking it for a spin after work, so i will let ya know how it rides. but it doesnt look nearly as good as the stock seat and it doesnt sit as good as the stock seat, at least sitting still. and it seems to have raised me up a few inches (more padding). and there is a lot of padding where ur ballz ride.
so far i'm not impressed with the looks, but i was looking for a seat that i could ride all day long with... so this may be the answer if i can deal with the looks (so far its not looking good for the sdowner).

thanks paul that gives me something to try im going to put a small bag in front of the seat for a backrest and see how that works.that might solve my problem. it seems to me the mustang and the sundowner look about the same on the bike.as far as the height of the back of the seat.the only difference seams to be you sit lower on the mustang.
