I have a 1999 FXDX that is currently using 13.5" Progressive Suspension 412 rear-shocks.
These shocs are set to very soft right now, just to get it lower. I want to get new shocks that are shorter, so that the bike sits lower, and rather stiffen them up a bit.
What length are you suggesting I should use? I am looking at Progressive Suspension of course.
One of my brothers has 12" 412's on his '01; he's happy with the ride. You can also slide the tubes up into the trees a bit, too...that will lower the front. Enjoy
Thanks guys :-), honest and easy instructions for a newbie on a FXDX, great! :-)
Yeah, I was thinking about using the Drop-in fork lowering kit from Progressive also.
I was looking at the 12" 440 otherwise at the rear.
i dropped mine to 11'' in the rear and i plan on dropping the front down 1'' or 2'' in the front with progressive springs. the rear springs are from jp cycles which cost around 179.00
not sure if drop in kits will work with the fxdx front forks. from my understanding these forks are a bitch to work on. i had a harley mechanic say he wouldn't work on those shocks even if they offered them $1000. as tomt said, say it isn't so you are going to drop the best handling harley out there.
