Cranshaft Failure **UPDATE**
Harley is going to pay for the crankshaft and 5 hrs of the labor =about 1500.00 worth of help. So I gave them a go on fixing the bike. The are going to go with Screamin Eagle stroker crank, and the 103 stage II kit, and upgraded oil pump and cam support plate.
I hope this is a good sound build. Just looking to pick up a little more get up and go with it.
Harley wants me to get there tuner and a new exhaust to finish off the package.
I have the PC on it now but they are saying they can not warranty it if i leave that on there.
So I am looking for thoughts on the harley tuner, and good choice for exhaust and best price to find the exhaust. looking at vance &hines and Rineharts. I have heard the 2 into 1 is the best choise i just don't think it fits the look of my bike. so i want to stick with the 2into2 system. And try to find a map that will work with the comander until the 1000 mile brakein is over so that i can get it dyno tuned and the harley tuner on it.
One more question what should i expect out of this setup. with the se-255 cams
power and ridabilty?
A lot of people who have the SERT/SEST like it a lot. It does require a dyno-tune. Is that included in the build? if not, expect +$300 or so.
Why are they forcing a new exhaust system on your bike? Do you still have stock exhaust?
You dealing with TTHD? I haven't had great experiences with them.
I mean your going to get a stroker crank, why would you need it to have all that bottom end grunt?
I would like to know why they or you decided on the cam. From what I read and know that is good for low rpm, not to mension the early intake close on it. I wondering if that is a combo for a engine that would ping???_dunt no_
They are not forcing new exhaust just a suggestion. I just have a set of slips ons on the bike right now with a pc and heavy breather.. I would love to go real big with the bike but thats not in the budget and i need this bike to be very reliable and streetable.
I am pricing getting the heads worked over while its apart. but have to stay in my budget.
The service guy told me "even if we put Screamin Eagle cams in, we could not warranty the bike." I told him I thought that assinine...putting harley parts in a harley engine would void the warranty. He said if the engine failed for any reason and it could be traced back to the cams, the warranty would be void.
My suggestion, get the warranty on the "new" motor in writing signed and dated.
Also, is the stroker crank trued and welded? If not, get that done. It only costs $100 or so from Revolution Performance. That way, when you do plan to go bigger you're covered.
