11in rear shocks get a little wobbly in a turn........
got my bob sunday............................WHOOOOOHOOOOOOO....i'll post pics later tonight.
it has the progressive 11in on the rear and the front has not been dropped. LOVE the ride. i did notice, i was going up through a pass with some long sweeeping turns at about 70 and i notices it started to, well, wobble or wollow, or gyrate while in the turn.......kinda hard to explain (not the front end like a speed wobble). i almost thought it was a low tire but that wasn't it. any of yall with the 11in rears had this problem? i tried changing where i put pressure on the bars and that seemed to make a difference but i'm not sure, turns were over.
i'm wondering if it is cause of the geometry with the 11in rears and the front not lowered?
maybe it's just the soft front end everyone has been talking about and i should but the heavier fork oil in?
or maybe cause i was uphill and i was on the throttle..?
RE: 11in rear shocks get a little wobbly in a turn........
Try to duplicate it again in the same area, sounds like it might just be the uphill during the turn. I had the same setup and everything seem fine to me, though I haven't really gone through hilly areas.
RE: 11in rear shocks get a little wobbly in a turn........
did it again today. comming down an onramp, on the throttle and it did the dance again. was on my way to a shop down the street (O'Skool Choppers) and i mentioned it to him and he thinks it might be in cause of the dropped rear end.
he says i can just push the forks down an inch or so and that will be just as good as a lowering kit. he also suggested that heavier fork oil might help by stiffening up the front end.
RE: 11in rear shocks get a little wobbly in a turn........
did some more research and i really think this is the old rear-steer problem w/ rubbermounts business. i am gonna try lowering the fronts first then if that doesn't help, i think the true-track may be in order.
the front seems easy but not sure i have the tools and know how for the rear.
RE: 11in rear shocks get a little wobbly in a turn........
I don't think it's the rear shocks, mine has done the same thing before and after the eleven inch shock install. Believe the springs are just too weak in the front. If you just touch the front brakes the front end dives. Any kind of small imperfection in the road surface in a power on run thru a tight curve will make the front end start wallowing. I'm gonna try heavier fork oil and if that doesn't work then better springs.
