check the mount... if its loose she'll rattle and blow a bulb all the time..
also check the wires for shorts..where the wires connect to the rear tial lamp housing. my system took in a load of dirt from the tire spinning, mucked up the entire setup.
had to clean it and dielectric the entire set up...its usually a smiple issue with the bulbs.
I sue the dielectric cream, looks like vaseline, and it keeps the foreign matter from getting in there muckin things up..
I had this problem on my 2009 St Bob. The left side signal stopped functioning as a running light...then it stopped functioning as a blinker....the next day, no tail light....reached under the fender to check the wiring....guess what? It was torn to shreds...
I installed a lowering kit a few months back and bottomed out the bike every day because of the lovely Jersey roads...and my fat ***! This was even with the stock shock preload set to 5. Had to splice and solder all of the wiring under the fender and securely get it out of the way.....took off lowering kit.
Anyway...my point is check the wiring if you installed a lowering kit or low shocks. If they are torn up, remove the lower shock bolts and jack the bike up, this will allow the swing arm to drop out of your way and give you more room to work. Make sure to remove the lower shock bolts while the bike is on the ground or you will get a unwanted surprise as the back tire hit the ground and knocks the bike off the jack......hopefully its just a bulb
I'm betting Maxxod has the Answer......the wire or wires get rubbed by the tire and shredded.....not at all uncommon on a loaded, or lowered Scootter....or even when bumps get nasty on a normally set up ride.....
Let us know what you find???......been there done that.
Thanks for all the advice guys, my husband came home and looked at it, and changed the "red" bulb out and put the stock ones back in, and threw on the red lenses and it's working just fine...for now....for some reason it popped out of the bulb socket...i dunno how that happened , since you have to turn it to click it in there..we have been riding everyday since then , I'm sorry I didn't get back sooner to check my messages
I just don't understand how it could unscrew itself like that !
