Default Custom seat question?

Ok guys, got the pipes ordered and on the way for the Fat Bob in waiting,(thanks for the input on that one). Now I'm getting ready to order a seat (fastback) from C and C custom seats. My question is do I really need the gel insert for an extra $80? I'll be riding around town during the week, and the mountains of East Tenn/ Western N.C. on the weekends. Just needing some more quality input. Thanks everyone!

I have the C&C fastback without the insert, and it's extremely comfortable. I don't really think the gel adds that much comfort. I could be wrong, but I think the seat is just dandy as it is..

I almost went with it. But then Chuck told me that 95% of their seats are sold w/out it. It's super comfortable without it. I did buy the detachable backrest...which I do love having...even though it essentially doubled the price of the seat...

I don't have gel in my C&C seat and it's very comfortable. Matter of fact I prefer it to the Sundowner I used to have and that had thicker foam. I suspect C&C uses a better quality foam in their seats than what HD uses.

I vote no gel. I have a gel seat on my V-Strom and the gel gets hot in the sun. It stays hot for a long time and is good at roasting chestnuts. In the winter it stays cold for a long time.
