All right guys here’s my situation. I have a 08 Ultra. I have done a lot of work to it and I am almost ready for the custom paint job. I am a few odds and ends from getting there. I am at the point where I wanted to replace the seat for a nice mustang.
I have never had an issue with my stock seat; I have always thought it was comfortable. The wife and I just rode round trip just under 700 miles this past weekend. I was very comfortable the entire time and so was the wife. She made a comment which got me thinking… she said if the new seat is not as comfortable as the one we all ready had, she would want the old one back. I had to agree.
I got to thinking and I though maybe I could have the old seat reupholstered and give it that custom look, but have the same seat underneath. Has anyone done this? Was it worth it? I want the custom look, but must be to ride to Vegas and back to San Diego if I wanted with no issues.
I had a local upholster redo a HD Pillow Top seat. This seat from HD is the one with the buttons.
It's a very comfy seat but I hated the looks of the buttons.
If you are that happy with your stock do as suggested and have it reupholstered. I did mine not for cosmetics but as an adjustment. Since I put a Mustang, riders backrest and passenger pillion on and will never look back.
