Default Remap or Band-aid fix

Most members do not understand the difference between remapping the ECM and adding an intercept signal tuner to adjust the original map. I believe the proper way is to remap so the original ECM knows exactly what is going on. Adding a tuner that intercepts the signal and dumps more fuel to offset the increased incoming air that the original ECM map does not know can and will work. I.E.) New air intake flows 25% more air but ECM can not see it. Tuner will add fuel at 25% rate to keep 14.6 closed loop ratio or higher % to enrichen the ratio. It is extra steps that accomplish the same result. Fuel injected models use a preprogrammed map to instruct how much fuel is to be delivered. Since you have changed the way the engine breaths, those instructions may not supply the proper stable fuel mixture under all conditions. Granted your bike will still run, but the only way you are going to get the most out of your EFI bike is to have it remapped. The ECU is going to use the VE (a percentage of how much air is flowing through a running motor, versus its theoretical capacity), AFR, and Spark Advance Tables. This is why you have to do adjust the ECU Maps when you put on pipes, air cleaner, etc. as the stock ECU doesn't know about this extra stuff, and you'll be running too lean. There are VE tables for both front and rear cylinders, and Spark Advance tables for both cylinders. So, when you crack that throttle open, the VE tables tell the ECU how much air is flowing into the motor, while the Intake Air Temp. (IAT) and MAP sensors tell the ECU roughly what the air density is, so that the AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) table can tell the ECM what Air Fuel Ratio should be required at that instant. Working along with everybody else, the Front and Rear Spark Advance Tables are also telling the ECU the advance required for that specific load.

Very educated comment. And, I've heard and seen good things about the tts. I run a fuelpak now which does just what you said. It David Copperfield's the ECU into plugging more fuel into the cylinder. But the tts lets you customize virtually every variable that comes into play while riding. That said, I'll be changing units when $$$ is more available.
