Get the service manual if your going to change out your bars. Also the Molex connector tool (If that is the correct terrm for that style connector). The manual tells you where each wire goes in the connector, or write it down.
Also, if you do have to extend your wires, buy the wire extension kit. Saves a couple hours vs. having to solder each wire extension. The kit makes it SO MUCH EASIER.
And yes, it is something you can do yourself. To pay a dealer a grand or close to it just for labor is ridiculous.
agree, my sons..if they were chrome I would have bought them myself, although I have seen them on black bikes with chrome controls and they look good..but prefer chrome myself

Good luck! Oh and W G, Bike looks killer!
+1 on both points.
don't pay the dealer a thousand dollars to swap and internally wire your bars.
granted, i didn't do my bars myself as they were done when i had my whole front end disassembled/powdercoated/reassembled. i don't have the space to keep a bike in pieces so i sent it to my indy for all the work and he only charged me 400 to do the work on the bars.
Bike looks killer man. My next mod is gonna be apes, I am not sure whether I want to go with 14 or 16. 16 just looks a little too high for me, I guess I'd have to feel it before I decide though.
I wanted the tall look but still be able to be comfortable. That's why I found the offset risers. There's hardly 1" between the bars and trees. The job only took about 6-7 hours total. This is my first real attempt at working on a bike. Thanks again everyone! I'm so stoked bout how it turned out.
