Yes. The holes along the bottom rim are for the spanner wrench. Turn left or right to adjust preload. Just letting know know. When you install cheap a$$ shocks that are that short. 10 3/4 in this case, your ride quality will suffer. Actually, that not entirely true, it will suck so bad you'll think your on a rigid. In this case your looking at probably the shortest shock that will even fit on a Dyna, and then your looking at the crappiest version of said shock. Ask around, do some searches, chat with people. Shocks are a HUGE issue for people on this board. Tons of opinions and advice. You didn't post up your make and model, but I assume its a late model Dyna. Installing bottom of the barrel junk on your bike never leads to good results. Now, as I posted earlier....I have been guilty of doing just that. I'm just throwing out some ideas for you. Its the INTERNET after all.
One last note. If you were to get the full length version of those ebay cheapys, we would be having a different conversation. But with 10 3/4....not so much.
As bikerlaw says, shocks get a lot of discussion on HDF, on all the model forums. Some people are happy with cheap short shocks, while some have tried more types of shock than we have fingers and are still not happy!
The shorter the shock, the less suspension travel it will have. Some of that will disappear as soon as you sit on the bike, which with such a short shock will leave very little to keep your bike from having a solid rear end. Don't do it!
Dont do it. Bought a set for my FXR just to get it on the road and I was short on cash. I put them back on Ebay after a week of riding and waited till I could afford some real suspension.
