Creaking Bob
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them yet. My bike has 4200 miles on it so far and when moving it around or when coasting very slowly as i pull up to stop lights ect, the rear wheel is creaking. Sounds somewhat like an old house door opening, i was wondering if this could be a bad bearing, or maybe something to do with the rear sprocket? I did a visual check last night and nothing is rubbing. I also went and bought a craftsman motorcycle jack last night and assembled it this morn before work. I plan on getting the bike in the air and spinning the wheel by hand to see if i can find the cause. If not i guess ill have to go to the dealer.
Thanks

No, im sure this isnt the suspension its definatly caused by either the wheel, hub, or sprocket rotating as the bike is in motion. I wouldnt think i have a bad bearing already, but who knows.
I'll be interested in what you find out. I was riding Tuesday and noticed my 05 Superglide doing the same thing. Sounds to me like the disc brake slightly rubbing. Can't duplicate it when the bike is cold, have to ride for awhile. I was also wondering if it is the drive belt being dry and squeaking like an accessory drive belt on a car.
Be careful lifting your bike with that new lift. There's an adapter kit for the Dyna's to keep you from lifting on the engine.
I think that I would check the brake first, but with that new of a bike & under warranty, why not just take it back to the dealer?

my Bob gets that resonating sound from the brake rotor, kinda like the sound you get from rubbing your finger on the rim of a good glass or crystal. pnly slow speeds. it goes away if i tap the brake pedal.
Clean the drive belt & rear brake really good (brakekleen) before you try anything else. My $02. My sporty had the same thing and it went away after a good washing. I used s100 cycle cleaner on the belt and brakekleen on the disc brake. My $.02. Blow it dry with a leaf blower too.
