Anyone have pics of their dyna preferably an 01-05 fxd, with either a lepera silhouette, daytona or bare bones on it? Kinda want to see the side profiles of these seats on a bike and any feedback you may have. thanks
I'm currently riding the deluxe again, since my last ride recently (about 600 miles round trip to Vegas) with the solo left me sore for several days. The deluxe advantage mainly being the butt-bucket shape/support, but I also like the full-length fastback look.
I rode with a LePera Maverick for a while also (old pic), but went for the low profile look. However, I'd recommend having something like that for more serious distances - it's much more comfortable, so I kept it too.
thanks man, you pretty much hit all of them right there. how about the width on the sils? they stick over the batt box and elec box? I'm looking for something like the silhouette because I like that scoop on the back, but I don't want it too wide so my legs have to jut out when at stops.
The Silhouette Deluxe rear end narrows and is rounded. When I spoke to a sales rep at LePera about different styles, she made a point of saying that it's not a '2-up' model...
I'm not worried about the 2 up characteristics, I have a 2 up seat for that. I just wanted a nice thin, low seat with a decent scoop to keep me on during "spirited accelleration" I rode a friends bike with a bare bones on it, and while it looks bananas and almost disappears into the rest of the bike it's nearly impossible to stay in the saddle when getting down. thanks for the pics, think I'm gonna pick up a silhouette.
I know you wanted earlier pictures than my 06 SB but it might give you another option.
I have the Lepera Silhoutte on my SB for short runs and looks but wanted a better seat for longer trips.
I switched back over to the stock seat for my 1st really all day ride and that thing about killed me.
I ended up running across a Saddlemen Renegade Solo that is working out great.
About the same width as the Lepera, 3/4 to 1 inch of extra padding and a little more of a back lip to keep you on/in the seat.
Lepera Silhoutte
You might want to look at a Saddlemen Profiler for more of a Solo Fast back seat. According to the gal where I bought my Renegade from my shows her bike with the Profiler and uses a 2 up Touring otherwise.
I have a Maverick on mine. Unfortunately, I do not have any still pics of it right now. It does not stick out over the battery or ECM boxes. In fact, I would say there is an inch or two of box sticking out from under it. The passenger area is either 11 or 12 inches. My wife spent most of the day on it yesterday, and she said it was more comfortable than the HD Sundowner I had on my previous bike. The deep bucket is particularly comfortable for me riding.
