i have the mustang wide solo. i love it but i sit crouched and think having a back rest for longer rides would be great. does antone have any experience with the mustang solo with the adjustable, removable back rest? and if so, does it work well with the add on passenger seat?
I have both, and it's great for longer trips. I can sit back against the backrest and cruise, which also helps with taking the top of the windshield out of my line of sight.
Put one on my wide glide over the winter and it makes a huge difference. My lower back would kill me after an hour or so on the stock seat, now I don't even notice the time go by.
My wife and I have ridden with the backrest on and off, she says having it on doesn't bother her at all. It doesn't look like a lot of space between her backrest and mine but is more than enough for her, she is pretty small at only 5'3 and 120

I got the seat with backrest but did not get the pillion to support it. I got the pillion for the seat without the backrest. I did this because I thought that when I have someone on the back I didn't want a backrest between us
The pillion covers the slot for the back rest, but then thought it would afford more comfort for the passenger as well. The added height from the pillion provides some support as well. I have used the back rest and on long rides it is invaluable. I have ridden 600 mile days without it though and done well. I am taking it with me for my 5,000 mile ride next summer with my brother. I don't think I will be able to do the ride without it. Money best spent...
