Repadding seat

Currently on my '07 Wide Glide I have stock seat. Am thinking of repadding the seat to lower it and add gel for cushion (done by custom seat place). I was wondering if anyone have comments about gel to set for cushion since will be removing padding?

sorry not clear - intention for this is to lower my bike. I do not want to get shorter suspension nor lower block as I like how it ride but just need lower bike though.

Some like the gel, some don't.I took the gel out of my solo and shaved the padding down an inch and a half my seat has more of a pocket now and is lower.

I just had my mustang seat shaved and a gel pad put in-put 100 miles or so on it and took took it back to have gel removed!it was hard as a rock!

I didn't add any gel to mine but I did shave it down and cut the foam on the sides flush with the seat pan. It made it a little firmer, narrower and, I sit lower with more back support. I like it better than the danny gray seat that I bought. I am thinking about getting it recovered in leather though. About the gel, I've heard that you need a layer of foam on top of it or it will feel hard and it'll retain heat and cold.
