+1 on the cutting wheel. I'd pick up a Dremel if you don't have one and get some of the thicker cutoff wheels - the paper thin one's that usually come in the starter set are great but until you get the hang of it you'll be busting them more often than you can imagine.

Most Torx on Harley's are actually Torx Plus. Only a couple of companies sell Torx Plus sockets - Snap On is great but about $300. Sears sells a SK set for around $100. Well worth it - here's an example:

Most folks (including me until y'day) believe the derby cover screws are T27 and the reason we strip them so often is that many of us only have T25. I got my SK TP set the other day and guess what? They're actually T25P! That's Torx Plus 25. T27P won't even fit in and T25P is snug as a bug in a little bitty rug. In comparison you can easily feel the slop in the standard T27.

OK, see what a difference a simple pic makes!

I'm with SC on the confusion, I thought you were talking about a disk brake pad, not your brake pedal.

I also understand why you're having a hard time keeping vice grips or pliers on it, you're pretty much restricted to gripping and rotating in line with it, that isn't ever going to work.

Cutting a slot to put a screw driver into isn't going to be easy either.

Anyway, that could very well be a torx bit instead of an allen key. It's tough to tell the pictures aren't clear enough for that. Do you know the difference? Allen keys in row 3 and 4 below, torx in row 2 and 5. You do not need the ones with the hole in the center. The set below cost me about $17.00 at Auto Zone, well worth the price.

An allen key will definitely slip in pretty much any torx bolt that you can fit one into, so there is still a chance with the right tool to extract that thing without too much pain.

I think your best bet, if this is not a simple difference in tools, allen verses torx, get the whole pedal off before you ruin something trying to work at that angle. Either that or swallow the pride and go ask a neighbor, wait until your OM comes home.

What the hell is an OM? I can't wait, it's gorgeous outside I want to go ride!

It is the torx crap your are talking about and that is what I was using...I didn't even think about getting an allen wrench...it is so frickin stuck I don't know what to do with it...

I have been painting my house and oddly enough that relaxes me...so now that my kitchen is painted and I have some zen back in my life I'm going to take the kid and the bulldog outside and see if we can figure this out for a third time...

Sorry about the confusion...I meant brake pedal pad not brakes! I don't touch the engine, brakes, anything that keeps me upright...could you imagine the damage I could do if I did?

From what the picture shows it looks like you can get visegrips on the head of the bolt, but you have to clamp it on as tight as you can get it. From what i can see it is cross threaded, that is it went in crooked. You have to slowly turn it in and then out several times. If you take your time it will come out, then you will have to retap the hole and get a new bolt. Been there done that many times, take your time and all will be good.

My favorite options:

1) Drill it and easy out it......

2) Slot it with a dremmel carefully

I'd go for the easy out....first..

I GOT IT!!! I filed the freakin head of it off and pulled the pad off the bike. I'm taking it to a hardware store so they can fight with it for a minute! Then I will test a screw that will actually fit! What a P.I.T.A!!!! Thanks for your help, yet again!
