I looked at the mytune software a few weeks ago and decided to pass on purchasing. I already have the HD Super Tuner software with Smart tune for adjusting VE tables, although Mytune is supposed to have better algorithms.
As far as timing, Mytune only gives recommendations for pulling timing, not adding, and you can figure that out by looking at your data logs and seeing where knock retard is being used.
MyTune is wonderful for adjusting ignition timing. It is worth the price just for that alone. What it does is goes through the data recorded and finds where the knock sensing has retarded timing and makes recommendations for retarding timing based upon that. Yes, you can gleen through the data yourself, but it can be a lot of data to gleen through. Perhaps you enjoy doing that. Me? I'd rather ride than slowly work my way through the data on my computer. MyTune gleens through all that data in seconds and makes the recommendations. As far as advancing timing, just advance the whole table a bit and then make data runs and let MyTune tell you where to retard. Keep doing that until you have retarded the whole table the right amount and then ignition timing should be as advanced as it can be without knocking.
I was looking at the "MyTune" a couple of monthes ago too. I have that very slight ping. While it is true that you can go through your data log (TTS version) I think it may be worth it to let the software do the work for me.
Nice article. Glad it worked for you and that Frank provided good customer service.
Ive got an 09 dyna fxd with slip on mufflers I live in texas and it pops in almost every gear when I let off the throttle. ive downloaded the evaluation of my tune and im wondering what the details a to getting this to work. either im thinking to much or its really easy any advice on using my tune
need some advice
fxd tune... help
Sorry for the necro of this thread, but I was wondering if folks are still using MyTune in conjunction with Harleys SuperTuner software?
Has anybody ever tuned their bike with the SESTP, done a dyno and then tuned with the MyTune software and then compared the results? I'm curious if there has ever been any proven dyno runs when comparing suggestions made by SmartTune vs MyTune.
I'm not questioning wether the software works, just curious. I'm looking to do cams on my Rocker this summer. The dealer wants almost 1700$ to do it vs the 800$ it will cost me to do it myself so I'm looking to cross all my t's and dot all my I's for when I'm ready to tune the bike myself.
I don't want to discourage you, but if you look at the thread, you'll see that there has only been one post in the last four years, besides yours, and no answer.
I'm not even sure that the MyTune web site is still alive. The software really didn't get much of a positive feedback, and questions posted to the web site never get answers.
Mytune still works. And yes it will probably work for your sportster.
The benefit for me with mytune is in the low rpm range. I don't use it for a full tune but only where I notice jerkiness like when you have big leaps in cells. It helps to smooth out areas. It's cheap and it does what I need it to in certain areas
Okay guys. thank you for the reply.
Frank from mytune did reply to my emails.
Okay, i will give it a shot. I know mytune can fix ignition timing. Nice if it will work on the sportster. I have done a stage 1 tune but did not modify the AFR table. I plan to do 2 other tunes on 14.1 and 13.8 AFR. So may need to advance the timing.
Mytune actually works quite well for timing. It is probably not going to do you any good though outside of closed loop as that's how you have to datalog and collect data from the o2 sensors
It did work for me with target tune running a richer afr as the o2 sensors still run data in target tunes full open loop
